Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About
RTK Valves & Actuators

What is an RTK control valve?
RTK manufactures motorized control valves for throttling, mixing, and diverting liquids and gases. Each valve pairs with either an electric (REact series) or pneumatic (ST series) actuator and can be configured in two-way or three-way designs. RTK is a CIRCOR International brand manufactured in Kornwestheim, Germany, with nearly 40 years of precision valve engineering.
What's the difference between electric and pneumatic RTK actuators?
Electric REact actuators (1.5–30 kN) provide precise positioning with built-in diagnostics and are ideal where instrument air isn't available. Pneumatic ST actuators (120–1000 cm² diaphragm) deliver higher forces, faster stroke speeds, and inherent fail-safe capability via spring return — preferred in process and safety-critical applications. ICA can recommend the right type based on your application requirements.
Does RTK make steam specialty valves?
Yes. RTK offers a complete line of steam specialty equipment — including steam-converting valves (combined pressure reduction and desuperheating), multi-nozzle desuperheaters, water injection control valves, feed-water control valves, continuous and bottom blowdown valves, and flow-control silencers. These are purpose-built for boiler plant and steam distribution applications.
What is a self-operating pressure regulator?
RTK self-operating pressure regulators (DM series) control pressure without any external power source — no electricity, no instrument air. They use the process medium's own energy to maintain setpoint. This makes them extremely reliable for applications where simplicity, fail-safe operation, and zero-energy consumption are priorities.
Is ICA the authorized RTK dealer in the United States?
Yes. ICA Heating is the authorized US dealer for RTK valves, actuators, and control equipment. We provide factory-direct pricing, application engineering, sizing with RTK-Calc software, complete valve assemblies, commissioning, and domestic parts support. Our headquarters is in Garfield, NJ — we serve customers nationwide for RTK products.
Can ICA provide RTK valve sizing and selection?
Absolutely. Our engineers use RTK-Calc sizing software along with decades of valve application experience to select the correct valve body, actuator, trim, and accessories for your specific process conditions — including flow rate, pressure drop, temperature, media type, and control requirements. Contact us with your application data for a recommendation.
