Gas Pressure Problems
We Solve Every Day

ICA Heating has been solving gas pressure challenges for commercial and industrial facilities across NJ and NY since 1974. These are the situations where an Eclipse gas booster is the right answer.

Low Utility Gas Pressure
When the utility's guaranteed service pressure falls below what your boilers or process equipment require, an Eclipse gas booster raises inlet pressure to restore full-rated operation — no equipment downsizing, no performance compromises.
Undersized Distribution Piping
Lengthy or undersized gas piping creates excessive pressure drop that starves burners and limits capacity. An Eclipse booster installed downstream restores full production without re-piping the entire facility.
Biogas & Alternative Fuels
Landfill gas, digester gas, and other alternative fuels are often available at very low pressures. Eclipse boosters raise these fuels to usable pressures for burners, engines, and cogeneration systems.
Standby & Curtailment Systems
Facilities with interruptible gas contracts need backup fuel delivery. Eclipse boosters can deliver propane-air mixtures during curtailment events, preventing costly downtime when natural gas supply is reduced.
Eclipse Series HB

Hermetic Gas Booster
Specifications

The Eclipse Series HB Hermetic Gas Booster increases low inlet gas pressure to the levels required by boilers, burners, and process equipment. It delivers gas at any volume within its capacity range with a relatively constant pressure boost — making it the ideal solution for facilities with inadequate gas supply pressure.

On natural gas, the Series HB provides pressure boosts from 6 to 38 inches of water column with flows up to 100,000 CFH. The discharge pressure is the total of incoming supply pressure plus booster-added pressure, and must remain below 5 psi.

These boosters are UL listed for natural and manufactured gas. An optional epoxy coating on all internal surfaces protects against corrosive compounds found in biogas, landfill gas, and sour gas applications.

Engineering & Design

Why Eclipse. Why Hermetic.
Why It Matters.

Eclipse has been manufacturing gas boosters for over 80 years. The hermetic design is the result of decades of engineering refinement — eliminating the most common failure points in gas boosting equipment.

Hermetic Seal Design
The airtight steel housing completely encloses the motor and rotor — eliminating the shaft seal entirely. No seal means no seal wear, no seal leaks, and no seal replacement. This is the single biggest reliability advantage over conventional gas boosters.
Centrifugal Radial Blade Rotor
Flat radial blades on the centrifugal rotor resist dirt and particle accumulation — critical for biogas and manufactured gas applications where contaminants are common.
Explosion-Proof Motor
Class 1, Group D explosion-proof motors come standard with sealed electrical connections and explosion-proof junction box — meeting the most stringent safety requirements for gas-handling equipment.
Service Without Disconnecting
The premium efficiency motor and rotor assembly can be removed for inspection or service without disturbing any gas piping connections — reducing service time and keeping the installation intact.
UL Listed — Natural & Manufactured Gas
Every Eclipse Hermetic Gas Booster is UL listed for use with natural gas and manufactured gas. Optional epoxy coating on all internal surfaces provides protection against corrosive gas mixtures.
Constant Pressure Delivery
Eclipse boosters deliver gas at any volume within their capacity range with a relatively constant pressure boost. Discharge pressure equals incoming supply pressure plus booster-added pressure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions About
Gas Boosters & ICA

When do I need a gas booster?
You need a gas booster when your utility's incoming gas pressure is lower than what your boilers, water heaters, or process equipment require for full-rated operation. Common signs include equipment operating below capacity, nuisance low-gas-pressure lockouts, and inability to fire all equipment simultaneously during peak demand.
What is a hermetic gas booster?
A hermetic gas booster uses an airtight steel housing that completely encloses the motor and rotor, eliminating the need for a shaft seal. Shaft seals are the most common failure point in conventional gas boosters — they wear out, leak, and require regular replacement. Eclipse's hermetic design removes this failure mode entirely, resulting in significantly longer service life and lower maintenance costs.
What pressure boost do Eclipse gas boosters provide?
Eclipse Series HB Hermetic Gas Boosters provide pressure boosts from 6 to 38 inches of water column on natural gas, with flow capacities up to 100,000 CFH. The discharge pressure is the sum of the incoming gas pressure plus the booster-added pressure, and must remain below 5 psi total.
Can Eclipse boosters handle biogas or alternative fuels?
Yes. Eclipse boosters are UL listed for natural and manufactured gas, and are widely used to boost low-pressure biogas from landfills and wastewater treatment plants. An optional epoxy coating on all internal surfaces provides protection against the corrosive compounds commonly found in biogas and sour gas mixtures.
Does ICA install and service Eclipse gas boosters in NJ and NY?
Yes. ICA Heating provides complete Eclipse gas booster solutions across New Jersey and New York — from application engineering and equipment selection through installation, startup, and ongoing maintenance. Our technicians are experienced with gas booster systems and available 24/7 for emergency service.
How long do Eclipse gas boosters last?
Eclipse has been manufacturing gas boosters for over 80 years, and the hermetic design is specifically engineered for long operational life. By eliminating the shaft seal — the most common wear component in conventional boosters — Eclipse hermetic boosters routinely deliver decades of reliable service with minimal maintenance.
